What is Shingon Buddhism
Shingon Buddhism is an esoteric/密教 practice of integration (body-speech-mind), oriented towards realising unity with Mahavairocana/Dainichi Nyorai (The Universe itself) not as 'belief' but as lived realisation and embodiment through practice. The core belief is that your true nature is already identical to the Buddha; it is simply a matter of tuning back into that original frequency.
The core method:
-
Body (rituals exploring one's nervous system and emotions)
-
Speech (mantra)
-
mind (meditation, visualisation)
Common misconception
Buddhism is not about worshipping to a God. When we pray, we are aligning consciousness with the Universe, a being that just is. The one who prays and the one prayed to are not two, but one. The practitioner is already the Buddha/the Universe, just temporarily obscured. Rather, we are remembering ourselves through the conduit of Buddha and the different modes of Buddha (compassion, wisdom etc.)
